rumoured tapes from 1962
This item probably doesn’t exist, but if it ever did surface, it would be another crucially important audio document.
In the early 1970s, rumours started doing the rounds that the Beatles had recorded a rehearsal at the start of 1962, which happened to feature a good number of otherwise obscure original compositions. The songs supposed to have been performed – and recorded – are:
Assuming the rumours are not accurate, they might have originated as a result of confusion over actual tapes which definitely do exist – the 1960 Forthlin Road recordings, and the Cavern Club tape of 1962 on which “Catswalk” was secured. It’s difficult to be sure.
In any case, “Keep Looking That Way”, “Looking Glass”, “Winston’s Walk” and “Years Roll Along” are completely unknown in audio format.
